Trudeau, Ardern, AOC, RG – The Future of Politics is Less Political

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of The Word Politics? Is it Corruption? Or Authoritarianism? Maybe Scandals? Puppets of Crony Capitalists? All of these words have become synonymous with Politics as we know it.

Our views are based on a lifetime of observing politics in our own respective countries as well as in the rest of the world. Because of these things, the biggest issue is the Wealth Gap. The politicians strike deals with cronies that make them richer while stealing the money from the poorer population.

So far this was the textbook definition of how & what politics was, especially in the past decade. But now there are a few leaders who are trying to challenge & change this definition of politics.

Leading With Power – Justin Trudeau & Jacinda Ardern

During the COVID pandemic, both the Liberals in power, Trudeau & Ardern have shown the world how to lead from the front. Both have a scientific temperament & have taken decisions accordingly, consulting the experts in the field regularly & taking their advice. Unlike their Conservative counterparts like Trump, Bolsonaro, Modi, who are currently holding the Top 3 spots in as the worst performers in containing COVID cases in their countries.

Justin Trudeau – Prime Minister of Canada

Trudeau is the son of the Ex-PM of Canada, Pierre Trudeau. Coming from a Political Dynasty was a major issue that his political opponent, Stephen Harper, used against him when he was first running for the Prime Ministership. But he overcame all the Negative campaigns winning the election with a Massive Mandate in 2015.

  1. Since his election, Trudeau has brought in major reforms in the country starting from appointing a first-ever gender-balanced federal cabinet with 15 each men & women as Cabinet Members.
  2. Under Trudeau, Canada has resettled one of the highest numbers of refugees including 40K Syrian refugees which has really helped Canada shine as one of the most accepting countries in the world.
  3. Prioritizing the fight against Climate Change, Trudeau appointed a separate ministry for Climate Change in his cabinet.

All these efforts have resulted in establishing Canada as one of the highly sort after nations of the world, with great living standards, a strong Medicare Infrastructure & a progressive Educational System.

Jacinda Ardern – Prime Minister of New Zealand

Jacinda Arden

Ardern became the world’s youngest female head of the government ever at the age of 37 when she led New Zealand’s Labour Party to a win in the 2017 general elections. Since then she has established herself as a true people’s leader with her extraordinary ability to communicate with people and talk in an open and honest way that doesn’t sound like a traditional politician.

To mark two years in Government, I was issued a wee challenge…

Posted by Jacinda Ardern on Friday, November 1, 2019

In November 2019, this video was released by Ardern & her office mentioning their accomplishments in the 2 years of her term.

What made Ardern stand out in the world forum of leaders was her reaction towards the Christchurch terrorist incident where a white man openly fired in a Mosque while the local Muslim community was offering prayer.

The 39-year-old PM set up an unprecedented example by promising to never mention the terrorist’s name. This act ensured that he would be denied any fame & he could never be established as an example for other Islamophobes in the country.

Standing Up To Power – Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez & Rahul Gandhi

During the COVID pandemic, both the Liberals in opposition, AOC & Rahul Gandhi, have shown the world how to keep those in power on their toes. Both have a scientific temperament & have challenged the unscientific & orthodox approach of the respective Trump & Modi governments accordingly. Both Trump & Modi, are the worst performers in terms of containing COVID cases in their countries, and still, their approach to the pandemic remains clueless & casual which draws the criticism from AOC & Gandhi respectively.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez – U.S. Representative for New York’s 14th Congressional District.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez aka AOC became the youngest woman ever to serve in the United States Congress when she defeated Joe Crowley, A 10-term incumbent in the 2018 midterm election primaries. She is a 100% people funded candidate & doesn’t accept backing from any lobby. This makes her stand out in a political system that is dominated & controlled by gun lobbies, oil lobbies, pharma lobbies to name a few.

AOC has previously worked as a waitress and bartender which makes her more aware of the struggles of a minimum wage-earning American, struggling to make ends meet. The impact of this can be seen in her policies mainly the Medicare For All & Federal Jobs Guarantee for every American.

Coming from a family of immigrants also gives her a deeper insight into the widely criticized & inhumane deportations carried out by the Trump administration. Hence she advocates for the abolishment of The U.S. Immigration And Customs Enforcement.

As a part of the young & aware generation of politicians, AOC acknowledges Climate Change & is vocal about her intentions to work for the cause to ensure a better & safer future for generations to come. Being associated with Climate Change activist candidates like, Paula Jean Swearengin, who fought the 2018 Mid-Term Elections alongside her, made her introduce The Green New Deal in Congress. The deal will ensure a cleaner environment by transitioning from Traditional Energy Resources to Renewable Energy Sources.

Rahul Gandhi – Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha

Gandhi, like Justin Trudeau, comes from a political dynasty. Just like Trudeau’s opponents use his family name to attack him, Gandhi is subjected to constant attacks based on his family name 24×7. There is a vicious IT Cell dedicated to targetting him based on just his last name, spreading propaganda about his family.

Despite the constant attacks on him over being a dynasty, he has brought young politicians, who come from extremely humble backgrounds, into India’s oldest political party. The leaders like current Youth Congress Chief Srinivas BV, UPCC President Ajay Kumar Lallu, Lok Sabha MP Ramya Haridas, Lok Sabha MP Jyothimani, to name a few, have all been inducted in the party by Rahul Gandhi when he was the President of the Congress party.

Rahul Gandhi takes on the authoritarian ideology head-on & attacks the Modi Government like no one else. He doesn’t mince his words & is never afraid of court cases that he invites due to his direct attacks on far-right organization RSS as well as PM Modi. Currently, Gandhi has around 2 dozen cases filed against him in different states across the country, mostly by RSS.

Gandhi led a delegation of opposition MPs to visit North-East Delhi, which had witnessed an Anti-Muslim Pogrom from 23rd to 29th February 2020. Any political pundit would tell you clearly that visiting the pogrom hit areas would be a clear case of “Political Suicide”. Despite the popular sentiments in the country, Gandhi stuck to his ideology of secularism and didn’t shy away from making his stand clear unlike the Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, who chose to be a mute spectator to what was going on in his own State.

Trudeau, Ardern, AOC & Gandhi, all have a non-traditional political approach. All are highly educated and make humanist & well-informed decisions keeping in mind the future of their countries. These leaders are bound to make a change in the world & will surely inspire a whole new generation of young politicians.
