Have you ever lost someone near & dear to you? If yes then this one article will feel particularly personal to you.
Born on the 19th of June 1970, Rahul Gandhi, the scion of the Nehru-Gandhi family, has been the biggest target of the daily campaigns by the notorious IT Cell of the Ruling Party since 2013.
Rahul, as well as his younger sister Priyanka, were extremely close to their Grandmother Indira Gandhi. The busy PM would take out some time whenever possible, to spend hours with her grandchildren, educating them about the country & life.
On 31st October 1984, Rahul, a 14-year-old boy, was informed that his grandmother, Indira Gandhi, the Prime Minister of India, had been assassinated, by her own Bodyguards. Rahul used to play badminton with these two Sikh Bodyguards as mentioned by him during an event. One can only imagine the kind of betrayal it must have felt like to the young teenager.
After 7 years of the tragedy, on 21 May 1991, Rahul’s father, Rajiv Gandhi, was assassinated at Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. While ordinarily, even the loss of a single-family member is devastating, one can only imagine what the young Gandhi must have gone through after losing two.
After the two assassinations & extreme threat to his life, Rahul Gandhi was forced to take an alias name & shifted from Harvard to Rollins College in Florida, USA. Rahul Gandhi worked at the Monitor Group, a management consulting firm, in London for three years.
In 2004, Rahul Gandhi officially joined politics & contested the Lok Sabha Election from Amethi, his father, Rajiv Gandhi’s former constituency. He won hands down with a thumping 66.18% vote share, while his party Indian National Congress also dethroned the Vajpayee Government.
His mother, Sonia Gandhi, the President of the Party was expected to be the next Prime Minister. But due to the pettiness of BJP, unwilling to accept a lady who had dedicated her life & existence to the Nation, as the PM, Sonia Gandhi voluntarily refused to accept the position stating she never was interested in being the PM.
Rahul Gandhi, the Son, was the next person a majority of Congress Leaders demanded to see as the Prime Minister. But Rahul refused. Saying he would rather work on the ground & get to understand and resolve issues of the common Indian.
During the 10 years of UPA rule, he rejected the position of Prime Minister twice. Had he been interested in the position, there was no stopping. Rather he worked on various issues including Kashmir, which saw a record decline in Terrorist activities & violence, during UPA Rule.
On 11 May 2011, Rahul, the then VP of Congress reached the village of Bhatta Parsaul, Greater Noida, which was at the center of the protests against the Mayawati Government’s land acquisition bill. Irked by Mr.Gandhi’s indulgence in the matter & his outright support for the farmers, Mayawati Government arrested Rahul Gandhi, briefly taking him into “preventative custody”.
Since 2013, Gandhi has been subjected to unprecedented attacks, never seen in the History of Indian Politics, with the ruling party allegedly setting up a whole IT cell team, dedicated to editing Rahul’s videos, creating WhatsApp forwards on him or other social media memes. Despite all this & two massive blows, he refuses to give up
Rahul Gandhi today is the biggest nightmare of the ruling party. He says what he wants & when he wants. He has come into his own in the past few years and has decided to follow his own path instead of asking PR managers to run his life like the man currently in power who is also his competitor.
Rahul Gandhi is the absolute Anti of Narendra Modi & when India decides it is ready for his kind of politics, he will be ready.
